Visconde do Rio Branco Map Poster & Print
Visconde do Rio Branco lies in the Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais, a region of rounded hills and narrow valleys that was once covered by Atlantic forest. The town takes its name from the Viscount of Rio Branco, a nineteenth-century statesman of the Brazilian Empire. It grew in a valley floor, and from above the streets follow the lie of the land rather than a strict grid.
The centre is dense, with a small network of streets around the main square and church, and newer districts climbing the slopes on each side. A small river runs through the valley, and roads leave town along the valley lines toward neighbouring municipalities. Beyond the edges, farmland and patches of forest cover the hills in irregular shapes.
A Visconde do Rio Branco map poster captures this hill-country pattern. The streets bend, fork and climb, and the town reads as a cluster following the valley rather than a single block. In black and white, the result has an organic, almost hand-drawn quality typical of towns in this part of Minas Gerais.

Hillside districts
Newer neighbourhoods climb the surrounding slopes, their streets curving and switching back to follow the terrain, which gives the edges of the map a flowing look.
River and roads
A small river runs through the valley, and the roads out of town follow the valley lines, radiating from the centre in several directions.
