Walla Walla Map Poster & Print
Walla Walla lies in south-eastern Washington, close to the Oregon border, in a broad valley at the foot of the Blue Mountains. Its downtown follows a compact grid, and residential streets extend in every direction under mature trees. Mill Creek flows through the city, partly in a channel beside and beneath the downtown streets, adding a thin, winding line of water to the map.
The city is home to Whitman College, whose campus forms a green block near the centre, and to the Washington State Penitentiary on the edge of town. The valley around it is known for wine and for Walla Walla sweet onions. A Walla Walla map poster shows the town inside a patchwork of fields, vineyards and long, straight farm roads.
The name is often translated as a reference to many waters, and creeks cross the valley in several directions. In black and white, the town grid, the curving streams and the straight lines of farmland combine into a settled, well-ordered composition, with the mountains implied just beyond the edge of the sheet.

Whitman College
The college campus forms a recognisable open block near downtown. Its lawns and paths contrast with the denser residential streets that surround it on every side.
Valley farmland
Beyond the city, vineyards, wheat fields and orchards spread across the valley. Long straight roads divide them and give the edges of the print a calm, geometric order.
