Wallan Map Poster & Print
Wallan is a town in Victoria's Mitchell Shire, about fifty kilometres north of Melbourne, near the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. It sits between two key transport lines: the Hume Freeway, the main road between Melbourne and Sydney, and the railway line to the north. On the map, both form long, strong lines that frame the town.
Once a small country town, Wallan has grown quickly as part of Melbourne's northern expansion. That growth is easy to read from above: an older core of straight streets, surrounded by newer estates with curving roads, crescents and cul-de-sacs. Beyond them, open paddocks and rising land lead toward the hills of the Great Dividing Range.
A Wallan map poster captures a town in the middle of change. The contrast between the older grid and the looping patterns of the newer suburbs gives the drawing a lot of texture, and the freeway and railway provide a clear structure. For families who have just moved there, it marks a new beginning.
