The Vecht river
The Vecht curves through Weesp from south to north, splitting the town and linking it to a long line of river villages. Its soft line anchors the whole composition.

Weesp Map Poster & Print
Weesp lies east of Amsterdam, where the river Vecht winds north through flat polder land crossed by water. The historic centre is compact and held together by the river and narrow canals. Its short streets and bridges give the map a fine, dense grain. Since 2022 the town has been part of the municipality of Amsterdam, but on the map it still reads as a place of its own.
The old fortifications left a clear mark. Weesp was part of the Stelling van Amsterdam, the ring of defences around the capital. The outlines of bastions and moats still curve around parts of the town. These angular shapes of water are among the most distinctive details a black-and-white rendering can show.
Beyond the centre, newer neighbourhoods, railway lines and the broad Amsterdam-Rhine Canal to the west frame the old town. A Weesp map poster shows these layers: the water first, then the fortifications, then the modern town fitted around both. The town is also remembered as the place where Van Houten made cocoa for many years.

Fortress outline
What remains of the old defences, including bastions and moats, traces angular shapes of water around the centre. They recall Weesp's place in Amsterdam's historic defence line.
Polder surroundings
Around the town, flat fields divided by straight ditches create a ruled, almost graphic texture. They frame the town and show how closely land and water are organised here.

Zakaj Weesp
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
A map of Weesp suits anyone who has lived by its canals or taken the train from its station into Amsterdam. The plan is small enough to show the whole old town in detail. That makes it a good fit for a hallway or study, or a gift for someone who moved away.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, perhaps with a street name or the year you arrived. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Then download the $9 HD files in six print sizes, or order a printed poster.
