Harkortsee
The reservoir on the Ruhr forms a broad, elongated body of water at the heart of the map, its outline softening the tight street pattern around it.

Wetter Map Poster & Print
Wetter lies on the Ruhr between Hagen and Witten, where the river widens into the Harkortsee, a reservoir lake created in the early 1930s. On the map, the water forms a long, smooth shape across the middle of the frame, and the town spreads along its northern shore and up the wooded slopes to either side.
The town has a place in German industrial history. In 1819 Friedrich Harkort set up a mechanical workshop in the old castle of Wetter, one of the early engineering works of the Ruhr, and the lake and a hilltop tower now carry his name. Railway lines follow the valley and cross the Ruhr on a viaduct, a strong straight line against the curving water.
A Wetter map poster brings together lake, rail and hill in a compact frame. The districts on the surrounding heights, including Wengern and Volmarstein, give the edges of the map a scattered, organic pattern, in contrast with the smooth shape of the Harkortsee at its centre.

Ruhr viaduct
A railway viaduct crosses the valley, one of the clearest straight lines on the poster, running above the river between the wooded slopes.
Hillside districts
Residential areas such as Wengern and Volmarstein climb the slopes around the valley, their winding streets following the terrain instead of a grid.

Zakaj Wetter
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Wetter is a place people often know from walks around the lake, rowing on the Harkortsee or rides along the Ruhr valley cycle route. A map of the town keeps those routes in view and suits anyone who has lived between the river and the hills.
Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates, and choose one of five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint works well with the water and viaduct lines. A free 900 px watermarked preview shows the result before you buy.
