Xinmiao Map Poster & Print
Xinmiao is a town in the Chongqing municipality, set in the hilly country that defines this part of south-western China. Flat land is scarce, so the built-up area takes whatever level ground the valleys offer, and the streets rarely run straight for long. From above the town looks compact, drawn tightly into its setting, with roads threading out along the contours toward neighbouring villages.
Chongqing is known for its mountainous terrain and great rivers, and even its smaller towns carry that signature. Terraced fields, small reservoirs and narrow roads that double back on themselves are typical of the wider landscape. They give maps of the region a restless, layered quality, quite unlike the grids of the northern plains, and Xinmiao's outline belongs clearly to that tradition.
A Xinmiao map poster turns this into a quiet study of line and density: a knot of streets at the centre, then a looser web of routes feeling their way across the hills. It is a modest subject, but the contrast between the compact core and the winding periphery gives it a surprising graphic strength once it is framed and on the wall.

Contour-hugging roads
Routes leaving the centre curve and switch back as they follow the hillsides, drawing long, looping lines that give the outer map its movement.
Chongqing hill country
Terraces, ponds and scattered hamlets fill the surrounding terrain, a pattern characteristic of the hilly interior of the Chongqing municipality.

Zakaj Xinmiao
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Xinmiao rarely appears on souvenirs, which is exactly why a map of it carries meaning. For someone who grew up there or has family in the town, it is a precise, personal reference point, far removed from the familiar Chongqing skyline postcards.
Personalise the poster with a title in your own words, a subtitle or date, and the coordinates of a home or meeting place. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
