Yamata Map Poster & Print
Yamata lies in the north of Saitama Prefecture, on the broad, flat Kanto Plain. This part of Japan is shaped by water: large rivers flow across the plain, and irrigation channels divide the land into small rectangular paddies. On a map, the settlement appears as a cluster of houses and narrow lanes surrounded by that field pattern.
Homes, small workshops and shrines are spread along the roads, and the boundary between settlement and farmland is soft. Main roads and rail lines cross the plain in long straight lines, connecting the area with the larger towns of northern Saitama and, further south, Tokyo.
A Yamata map poster is a study in fine texture. The paddies form a delicate, nearly regular grid, the lanes wind slightly between houses, and the occasional channel or embankment adds a longer line. In print, the whole sheet has the even rhythm typical of the Japanese countryside.

Irrigation channels
Narrow waterways run along the edges of the fields. They add thin, straight lines that follow the lie of the plain.
Clustered lanes
Houses gather along narrow, slightly winding roads. They form denser patches that stand out against the open farmland.
