Yanjing Map Poster & Print
Yanjing is a town in the Chongqing municipality in southwestern China, in the hilly countryside north of the main city. This part of the Sichuan Basin is made up of rounded hills, narrow valleys and small rivers, and the land has been shaped by generations of farming. Towns like Yanjing grew at points where roads and valleys meet.
From above, the landscape decides the layout. Streets run along valley floors and bend around hills, instead of following a regular grid. Newer buildings spread out along the main roads, and the hillsides around the town are marked by terraced fields and scattered farmsteads. Streams and ponds fill the low ground.
A Yanjing map poster shows that close relationship between town and terrain: the curves of the roads, the fine contour lines of terraces and the winding water. It's a quiet, detailed image for anyone with roots in the Chongqing countryside who wants to keep a record of home.
