Valley layout
The centre fills a long valley floor, so the street pattern is stretched and uneven, and the edges of town are drawn by hillsides rather than by roads.

Yunfu Map Poster & Print
Yunfu is a prefecture-level city in the west of Guangdong province, and its population figure covers a wide area of counties and small towns as well as the urban centre. The landscape is hilly and forested, and the West River, one of the main branches of the Pearl River system, runs through the north of the prefecture on its way east toward Guangzhou.
The main urban area occupies a valley between hills, and on a map the streets are squeezed into the flatter ground, with roads bending around slopes and following watercourses. Beyond the centre, development thins quickly into villages and farmland, so the built-up area has a clear, irregular outline against the surrounding terrain.
Yunfu is known in China as a centre for stone processing, particularly marble and granite products. Xinxing county, part of the city, is associated with Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch of Chan Buddhism. A Yunfu map poster keeps things simple, showing how a mid-sized Chinese city fits itself into a landscape of hills and valleys.

Hillside roads
Streets leaving the centre curve along contours and climb between slopes, giving the outer parts of the map a loose, organic pattern of thin winding lines.
Compact core
The main commercial streets gather in a dense, relatively small centre, which stands out clearly against the open, lightly built land around it.
