Numbered microdistricts
Housing is organised into compact residential districts, each with its own internal streets and courtyards, giving the map a repeating, cellular pattern that is easy to recognise.

Zelenograd Map Poster & Print
Zelenograd is an administrative district of Moscow that lies well outside the main city, about 37 kilometres northwest of the Kremlin along the Leningradskoye highway. On a map it stands out as a self-contained island of development surrounded by forest. Its layout is clearly planned: residential microdistricts arranged in clusters, separated by wide green belts, ponds and wooded valleys.
The town was founded in 1958 and developed as the centre of Soviet microelectronics, often described as the Soviet Silicon Valley. Research institutes and factories producing chips and components shaped its economy, and a technical university still anchors the city today. Its name means green city, a reference to the forest deliberately kept between the housing blocks.
A Zelenograd map poster shows modernist planning at its clearest. Long curving avenues link the districts, industrial zones sit apart from the housing, and the surrounding woodland frames the whole composition. In black and white the design looks almost like an architect's drawing, which in a sense is exactly how the town began, on a planner's table before a single block was built.

Forest belts
Wide strips of woodland separate the districts and surround the town, so the poster shows large calm areas of open space between the built-up clusters.
Leningradskoye highway
The main road to Moscow runs along the edge of the town, a long straight line that shows how Zelenograd connects to the capital while standing apart from it.

Zakaj Zelenograd
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Zelenograd is a map for engineers, graduates of its technical university and families who grew up in its microdistricts. It is also a clear example of Soviet urban planning, which makes it appealing to anyone interested in architecture.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with your microdistrict number or a year, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits a town that was designed on paper first.
