Zhaodun Map Poster & Print
Zhaodun is a town in northern Jiangsu, in the Xuzhou area, on the level plain that stretches north toward Shandong. From above it looks like many market towns in this part of China. A central cluster of streets and residential compounds is surrounded by long, straight roads and rectangular fields, laid out on ground with almost no relief.
With no hills or coastline to bend them, the roads run in clean lines, and irrigation channels and small waterways between the fields follow the same pattern. Villages appear across the countryside at regular intervals, each a small knot of buildings along its own lane. On a map this gives the wider landscape a rhythmic, almost woven quality.
A Zhaodun map poster is a study in order and quiet repetition: the denser streets of the centre, the roads carrying traffic toward Xuzhou and neighbouring towns, and the geometric fields all around. For anyone who grew up here or has family in the area, it offers a view of home that is precise and understated.

Straight country roads
Roads cross the plain in long, unbroken lines, meeting at near right angles and dividing the countryside into large, regular panels.
Village clusters
Small villages sit at even intervals among the fields, each a tight group of buildings. Together they form a repeating pattern that gives the poster its texture.
