Mughal garden
The terraced garden below the spring appears as a strict rectangle of paths and water channels. It is the most formal shape on the map and the town's best-known feature.

Achhībal Map Poster & Print
Achhībal lies in Anantnag district in the south of the Kashmir Valley, where the valley floor meets the lower slopes of the surrounding mountains. On a map the town is a compact cluster of lanes and houses. Orchards and fields spread across the flatter land, the hillside rises close by, and streams and irrigation channels thread through the landscape.
The town is best known for the Achabal garden, a Mughal garden associated with Empress Nur Jahan. It is laid out on a slope below a powerful natural spring, whose water is channelled down through terraces, cascades and fountains. The formal geometry of the garden stands out clearly from the organic pattern of the town around it.
An Achhībal map poster places that rectangular garden beside the irregular lanes of the settlement, a pleasing contrast between design and natural growth. At a slightly wider scale, the map also takes in the rising ground at the valley edge and the waterways feeding the fields. This gives a sense of how closely the town is tied to its springs.

Spring and channels
Water from the spring runs through the garden and on into streams and irrigation channels. It draws fine lines across the fields around the town.
Valley edge
The town sits where the flat valley floor meets the lower mountain slopes, so the street network thins out quickly as the ground begins to rise.
