Town centre grid
The historic centre forms a tight, rectangular cluster of blocks, which reads clearly against the looser suburban streets and the open rural land around the town.

Cascavel Map Poster & Print
Cascavel lies in the state of Ceará in north-eastern Brazil, southeast of Fortaleza, on the low plain that runs back from the Atlantic. The municipality has two different faces: a compact town set some way inland, and a stretch of shoreline with beach communities facing the ocean. Its name is the Portuguese word for rattlesnake.
From above, the town centre shows a fairly regular pattern of blocks around its older core, with main roads coming in from the surrounding countryside and newer neighbourhoods filling the edges. The land is mostly flat, so the streets keep to straight lines and the town grows outward in patches rather than following the contours of hills.
Towards the coast, the pattern changes. Streets thin out, the settlements string themselves along the shore, and the clean curve of the Atlantic becomes the strongest line on the page. Caponga is the best known of these beach communities. A Cascavel map poster can centre on the town itself or be framed wider to take in the coastline as well.

Atlantic shoreline
On a wider framing, the coast cuts a long, smooth line across the map, with beach settlements such as Caponga strung along it and the empty ocean beyond.
Roads across the plain
Roads run almost straight across the flat coastal plain, linking the town with the shore and with Fortaleza, and they give the composition its main directional lines.
