Mohale's Hoek Map Poster & Print
Mohale's Hoek is the administrative centre of the district of the same name in southwestern Lesotho. The town is named after Mohale, a younger brother of Moshoeshoe I, founder of the Basotho nation, who was given this area to settle. Today it serves as a market and service town for the farming villages around it.
The shape of the town follows the Main South Road, which links it with Mafeteng to the north and Quthing to the south. Short, irregular streets branch off this spine, and houses quickly give way to open grassland and fields. Low hills and the higher ground of the interior surround the settlement, leaving wide empty margins on the map.
A Mohale's Hoek map poster portrays a small town at the edge of the highlands rather than a dense city. Its appeal lies in the simple line of the road, the scattered pattern of homes and the sense of wide space around them. All of this translates well into a minimal black-and-white print.

Town centre
Government offices, shops and the market gather around the central stretch of the road. Here the street pattern is at its densest and most regular.
Open surroundings
Around the built-up area, footpaths and tracks lead out into grassland, fields and low hills. This sparse network gives the print generous empty space.
