Oyster marsh lattice
Along the eastern shore, channels and rectangular ponds form a dense geometric texture. It is an agricultural landscape that looks almost like a street grid from above.

Oléron Island Map Poster & Print
Oléron runs northwest to southeast off the Charente coast, and the contrast between its two shores gives it a distinctive look from above. The western edge is one long, gently curving line of sand and dune backed by forest. The eastern side, facing the mainland, breaks into a fine lattice of channels, oyster ponds and salt marsh, one of the most intricate patterns anywhere on the French coast.
It is the second-largest island in metropolitan France after Corsica. Since the 1960s a long viaduct has linked it to the mainland, and it no longer charges a toll. The surrounding waters belong to the Marennes-Oléron oyster basin, one of the best known in the country. At the northern tip, the tall striped Chassiron lighthouse overlooks the open Atlantic.
An Oléron Island map poster brings out that two-sided character: the plain dune line to the west, the fine grain of the marshes to the east, and a string of small towns connected by roads through fields and pinewoods. At its southeastern end, the curve of the bridge reaches across to the continent.

A long, gently curving bridge joins the southeastern tip to the mainland. It is the one line that ties the island to the rest of France.
Chassiron point
The island narrows to its northern tip, where the lighthouse stands above reefs that appear at low tide. It is the end of the long Atlantic shoreline.

Pse Oléron Island
Një hartë me kuptim
Oléron is a family-holiday island for many: summers of bicycles, beaches and oysters eaten by the harbour. A poster of it becomes a record of those seasons, and the marsh pattern gives Classic black & white a lot of fine detail to show.
Use the title and subtitle for a family name, a house or a run of summers, and set the coordinates to your own spot. Choose from five styles, download the HD files for $9, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
