The Tuluá River
Descending from the Central Cordillera, the river crosses the city in a gentle meander, and its course is the most expressive curve in an otherwise orderly street plan.

Tuluá Map Poster & Print
Tuluá sits in the broad valley of the Cauca River in western Colombia, on the eastern side of the flat valley floor where it begins to lift toward the Central Cordillera. Its centre follows the regular block pattern common to Colombian towns, laid out around a main square, and the grid extends outward in steady rows until it meets farmland.
The Tuluá River runs through the city from the mountains toward the Cauca, and its green, winding course breaks the grid into distinct halves. On a map it is the single strongest line, a soft curve crossing the straight streets, with bridges stitching the two sides together at regular intervals along its length.
Locals often call Tuluá the heart of the Valle, a nod to its central position in the department and its role as a market town for the surrounding sugarcane and farming country. A Tuluá map poster captures that sense of a place built on flat, productive land, where the only interruptions to the grid are the river and the edge of the fields.

Grid around the plaza
The historic centre follows the Spanish colonial pattern of square blocks extending from a main plaza, a structure that reads cleanly in black and white.
Edge of the valley
Toward the east the streets thin out as the land begins to rise, while the west opens toward the flat, cultivated floor of the Cauca valley.
