Alta Gracia lies in the foothills of the Sierras Chicas in Córdoba Province, Argentina. The town grew around a Jesuit estancia founded in the seventeenth century, and its historic centre is still arranged around the estancia's church, residence and the Tajamar, an old reservoir built to supply water to the settlement.
The Jesuit Estancia of Alta Gracia is part of the Jesuit Block and Estancias of Córdoba, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town is also known as the place where Ernesto Che Guevara spent part of his childhood, and his former home is now a museum. The composer Manuel de Falla lived his final years here as well.
