Ārān Bīdgol lies in Isfahan province, just northeast of Kashan, on the western edge of Iran's central desert. As the name suggests, the town grew from two separate settlements, Ārān and Bīdgol, which have since merged. On the map, the combined town forms a broad, fairly compact area of streets on flat land, with the desert beginning a short distance beyond.
The streets are laid out in a mix of older, irregular lanes and newer, more regular blocks, and main roads connect the town with Kashan and the highways further west. The shrine of Hilal ibn Ali is an important religious site in the town. To the east, the county extends into desert that includes the Maranjab area and the salt flats of the Namak lake basin.
