Mapa
Arcata Map Poster & Print
Arcata lies at the northern end of Humboldt Bay on California's North Coast. Its historic core is a regular grid of streets around Arcata Plaza, a square block that still anchors the town. From above the grid is easy to read. Highway 101 runs along its eastern side, and neighbourhoods spread north and south across the flat land near the bay.
Two unusual features frame the town. To the south, the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary turns a wastewater treatment system into a network of ponds and trails beside the bay. To the east, the Arcata Community Forest climbs into second-growth redwoods. On a map, water and forest press in from both sides of the tidy street pattern.
On the hillside above downtown is the campus of Cal Poly Humboldt, whose buildings and paths form their own looser pattern. An Arcata map poster brings it all together: plaza, grid, campus, marsh ponds and the curving shoreline. Clean lines show how the town fits between the bay and the trees.

Marsh and sanctuary
South of town, the ponds, dikes and channels of the Arcata Marsh make a distinctive pattern of shapes along the edge of Humboldt Bay.
Campus on the hill
Cal Poly Humboldt sits on the slope east of downtown. Its winding paths and scattered building footprints stand out against the straight streets below.
