Arcore sits in the Brianza, the heavily settled green belt between Milan and the foothills of the Alps. From above, it is part of an almost continuous web of towns. Neighbouring municipalities run into each other along roads and rail lines, and only parks, estates and the occasional field mark where one ends and the next begins.
What sets the Arcore map poster apart is the large walled parkland that breaks up the street pattern. Historic villas and their grounds show up as broad, calm shapes among the residential blocks, with curving drives and tree-lined avenues inside. A railway line crosses the town, and major roads link it to Monza, a few kilometres to the south.
Arcore is known across Italy for its villas. Villa Borromeo d'Adda, with its landscaped park, is a public landmark, and Villa San Martino became widely known as Silvio Berlusconi's residence. Both reflect a long tradition of Milanese families building country houses in the Brianza, and that tradition still shapes how the town looks from above.
