Ardon river
The river runs past the town in a broad, stony bed. Its channels shift across the floodplain, giving the map an organic line against the street grid.

Mapa
Ardon Map Poster & Print
Ardon lies on the plain of North Ossetia–Alania, on the banks of the river that gives the town its name. The Ardon flows down from the high Caucasus to the south and spreads into a broad, stony bed as it reaches the lowland, and the town sits close to its course. From above, Ardon's streets form a fairly regular pattern of long blocks, typical of settlements in the region.
That regular layout and the open fields around it give an Ardon map poster a calm, orderly look. Straight streets run through the town, gardens and household plots fill the space behind the houses, and the river corridor adds an irregular, natural edge on one side that breaks up the geometry of the grid.
Ardon is the administrative centre of its district, and the valley of the Ardon river to the south has long connected the plain with the highland villages of the Caucasus. The map shows the town in its landscape: a compact grid on flat ground, a strong river line and the mountains just beyond the frame.

Regular blocks
The streets are laid out in long, mostly straight blocks on level ground, a pattern that produces a crisp, even texture across the centre of the poster.
Foothill horizon
South of town the land begins to rise toward the Caucasus, and roads heading that way follow the river valley into the mountains.
