Baffa is a town in Mansehra District in the Hazara region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, set in green, hilly country north of the plains. On a map its centre is a dense knot of lanes and bazaar streets, with roads leading off in a few directions to neighbouring towns and villages. Farmed fields and scattered settlements fill the valley floor around it before the land climbs into hills.
The terrain shapes almost everything here. Roads follow the easier ground, streams cut through the fields, and houses spread along routes rather than in blocks. The result is an organic, uneven street pattern with no planned grid. It has the character of a long-established market town that serves the surrounding countryside and its villages.
