Basi lies in Punjab, on the flat alluvial plains a short distance from Chandigarh and the foothills of the Shivalik range. From above, the town shows a denser, older core with irregular streets, surrounded by newer residential colonies and industrial plots laid out in straighter lines along the main roads.
The wider area has grown quickly as the Chandigarh region has expanded, and the map shows that change clearly. Highways and link roads cut across the landscape, farmland remains visible between developments, and seasonal streams that come down from the hills cross the plain in shallow, winding channels.
