Berrechid lies on the Chaouia plain south of Casablanca, in flat, open agricultural country. On the map the town forms a compact centre with more regular neighbourhoods around it, and the surrounding land is divided into large fields. Industrial zones and new housing mark where the town has grown toward the main transport routes.
Berrechid sits on the road and rail corridor running south from Casablanca toward Settat and Marrakesh, and its position within reach of the economic capital has driven much of its recent growth. The town has long served the farming communities of the Chaouia as a market centre.
