Bolingbrook is a village southwest of Chicago, mostly in Will County, that grew rapidly after its incorporation in 1965. Its map is typical of postwar American suburbs and unusually clear: curving residential streets, loops and cul-de-sacs fill large tracts between a handful of straight arterial roads. Interstate 55 crosses the village on a diagonal, the longest and most direct line in the whole composition.

Clow International Airport, a small general aviation field in the south of the village, adds a straight runway to a street plan that is otherwise almost entirely made of curves.
