Campos Sales Map Poster & Print
Campos Sales is a municipality in the southwest of Ceará, in Brazil's semi-arid northeast, not far from the border with Piauí. The town is the urban centre of a large rural area of caatinga scrub, small farms and seasonal watercourses. From above, the built-up area is compact, a tight cluster of streets set against a wide, open landscape.
The streets form a rough grid around the centre, with a church square and a main commercial street at its core. Roads leave the town towards neighbouring municipalities, and the outer blocks thin quickly into fields and dirt tracks. Small reservoirs, known locally as açudes, sit across the land. They are an important part of life in a region where rain is scarce.
A Campos Sales map poster shows the character of a sertão town. It is a firm, dense core surrounded by space, with long roads that suggest the distances people travel here. The composition is simple and strong. It carries the quiet of the interior northeast, far from Ceará's coastal cities.

Roads outward
Regional roads leave town in several directions across the flat interior. They are long, spare lines that link Campos Sales to neighbouring towns and the Piauí border.
Reservoirs in the sertão
Small reservoirs sit across the surrounding countryside. They show up as irregular water shapes, important markers in a dry landscape shaped by the need to store water.
