Mapa
Cheshire Map Poster & Print
Cheshire lies in central Connecticut, between New Haven and Waterbury, in rolling country of low ridges, woods and small reservoirs. From above, it shows the typical New England pattern: a historic centre around a town green, main roads leading outward, and suburban streets curling into cul-de-sacs among the trees. Interstate 691 and Route 10 are the strongest lines across the town.
The town is known as the Bedding Plant Capital of Connecticut, a nod to its many nurseries and greenhouses. Cheshire Academy, founded in 1794, is one of the older boarding schools in the country. A long, straight path follows the route of the former Farmington Canal, now the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail, and runs north to south through town.
A Cheshire map poster brings out the contrast between the ordered centre and the looping residential streets set into woodland. It works well for families who have raised children here, for Academy alumni, and for anyone who loves the quiet shape of a Connecticut town seen from above, with its green at the centre.

Canal trail
The Farmington Canal Heritage Trail follows the old canal and later rail route in a long straight line that cuts across the town's curving streets.
Wooded ridges
Low hills and forested ridges shape the town. Residential streets wind along the slopes, and small reservoirs show as pale shapes among the trees.
