Corrientes Map Poster
Corrientes lies in northeastern Argentina, on the eastern bank of the Paraná River, just below where it meets the Paraguay River. On the map, a wide stretch of river runs along the northern and western edges. The city spreads inland from the water in a regular grid of square blocks, the pattern of Spanish colonial planning.
Founded in 1588, it is one of the oldest cities in Argentina. Its long riverside promenade, the Costanera, is a favourite place to walk. The General Belgrano Bridge crosses the Paraná to Resistencia, the capital of Chaco Province. Corrientes is also closely associated with chamamé, the regional folk music.

The riverside promenade follows the curve of the bank. It is the softest line on the map, running alongside the regular grid.

The bridge to Resistencia stretches across the Paraná. It is a single thin line that links the city to the Chaco side of the river.
