Corvera de Asturias is a municipality in central Asturias, immediately southeast of Avilés and close to the estuary of the Ría de Avilés. Rather than one centre, it is made up of several towns and villages, including Las Vegas, Trasona and Los Campos, spread across a landscape of green hills, meadows and woodland. On a map, these settlements appear as separate clusters linked by roads.
The northern part of the municipality belongs to the industrial area of Avilés, where large steel and manufacturing sites occupy wide expanses of flat land. Nearby, the Trasona reservoir is used as a training centre for rowing and canoeing. Further south, the land rises into rolling hills dotted with farms and small hamlets, typical of the Asturian countryside.
