Mapa
Coulsdon Map Poster & Print
Coulsdon lies in the London Borough of Croydon, on the southern edge of Greater London, where the city meets the North Downs. The town sits in a dry chalk valley, and the land rises on either side towards open downland, including Farthing Downs, a protected stretch of grassland to the south-west.
From above, the valley is the key feature. The Brighton Road and railway lines follow its floor, and residential streets climb the slopes in curving terraces and cul-de-sacs. A bypass carries through traffic around the town centre.
The result is a map in which transport and topography run parallel, with commuter suburbs spreading along the hillsides. A Coulsdon map poster shows the transition from London's suburban grain to the open space of the Downs, all within a few kilometres.

Hillside streets
Residential roads follow the contours of the slopes in long curves, a pattern very different from the flatter grids of inner London.
Farthing Downs
Open downland to the south-west appears as a large blank area crossed by a few paths, marking the edge of the built-up city.
