The Rock River
The river runs through the centre of town, wide and gently curving. It splits the grid into two halves and gives the print its strongest shape.

Mapa
Dixon Map Poster & Print
Dixon sits on the Rock River in northern Illinois, and the river defines the town from above. It flows through the middle of the map, with the downtown grid on its banks and bridges tying the two sides together. Beyond the residential streets, the land opens into flat farmland divided into the familiar rectangular fields of the Midwest.
The town is best known as the boyhood home of Ronald Reagan, whose family house is preserved and open to visitors. Dixon also takes its name from John Dixon, an early settler who ran a ferry across the river here, a reminder of how central the crossing was to the town's beginnings.
A Dixon map poster shows the river as a wide, pale band cutting across a regular street grid, with bridges stitching the pattern back together. The contrast between the flowing water and the straight lines of the town makes this a clear and balanced composition.

Downtown bridges
Several bridges carry streets across the river near the centre. On the map they appear as short, precise lines connecting the two sides of the grid.
Midwestern grid
Residential streets follow a regular grid that extends away from the river and meets the farmland. The steady rhythm of blocks frames the water and keeps the composition calm.
