Mapa
Elmwood Park Map Poster & Print
Elmwood Park is a village just beyond Chicago's western city limits, in Cook County. On a map, it looks like a continuation of the city grid. There are long, regular blocks of houses, straight avenues and a rail line cutting diagonally across the streets, while wooded forest preserves along the Des Plaines River soften its western side.
The village is largely residential, known for its brick bungalows and close-knit neighbourhoods, and has long had a strong Italian American community. A Metra commuter line runs through, linking Elmwood Park with downtown Chicago, and busy commercial streets frame the village on several sides.
An Elmwood Park map poster shows the classic structure of an inner Chicago suburb. There is the ruled grid, a few diagonal lines and a distinctive traffic circle, with the green, irregular edge of the forest preserves in contrast. It is orderly, familiar and quietly handsome in black and white.

The circle
A traffic circle near the village centre breaks the grid with a rounded form, one of the few places where the map departs from straight lines.
Forest preserves
Wooded land along the Des Plaines River borders the west side, an irregular green edge set against the regular geometry of the village streets.
