Drainage canals
Straight canals run through the neighbourhoods, carrying rainwater away from the low ground and forming clean lines that divide the residential grid into sections.

Estelle Map Poster & Print
Estelle is a census-designated place in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, on the West Bank of the Mississippi across from New Orleans. The land is low and flat and was drained over time for housing, and the map shows this plainly: long, straight streets and subdivisions organised along drainage canals, with wetlands close by to the south.
Major roads run north toward the river and the older communities of the West Bank, forming the main axes of the area. Between them, residential streets fill rectangular blocks, broken by canals that carry water toward pumping stations. Further south the grid ends and the marshes and bayous of the Barataria region begin, a very different, fluid pattern.
An Estelle map poster sets these two landscapes side by side: the ordered suburb built on drained land and the open, water-laced wetlands at its edge. It suits residents of the West Bank, families who have lived in the area for generations and anyone who understands how much of south Louisiana is shaped by water.

Suburban grid
Estelle's streets are laid out in long, regular blocks typical of West Bank subdivisions, giving the map an even, orderly texture across most of the frame.
Edge of the wetlands
To the south, development gives way to marsh and bayou, where irregular water channels create a loose, organic pattern in contrast to the streets.

Zašto Estelle
Mapa koja nešto znači
In south Louisiana, where streets and water are always close, a map says a great deal about a place. The Estelle poster shows the line where the suburb meets the marsh, a boundary residents know well.
