Mapa
Fochville Map Poster & Print
Fochville lies on the far West Rand, in the Merafong municipality near Carletonville, in a region built around deep-level gold mining. Founded after the First World War, it takes its name from the French commander Ferdinand Foch. On a map the original town is a compact, orderly grid set within wide open farmland and mine property.
Around that core the pattern changes. Kokosi, the township beside the town, has its own denser street layout, and roads lead out toward the mine shafts and processing sites that defined the local economy. Between them lie large empty areas, so the map shows distinct settlements separated by open ground rather than one continuous urban area.
A Fochville map poster is a record of a mining town's geography: planned streets, separate neighbourhoods and the roads that tie them to work. It suits people from the area who have moved to larger cities or abroad, and families whose history is bound up with the West Rand mines.

Kokosi
The adjoining township has a tighter mesh of small plots and streets. Seen together with the town, it tells the story of how the area grew.
Highveld space
Open farmland and mine land surround the settlements. On the poster this becomes generous empty space, which lets the street patterns stand out cleanly.
