The Qijiang River
The river curves through the heart of the district in long bends. It is the dominant shape of the map and the line along which the older parts of town grew.

Mapa
Gunan Map Poster & Print
Gunan is the central urban area of Qijiang District, in the far south of Chongqing municipality near the border with Guizhou. Like much of the Chongqing region it is built on uneven ground. From above, the city follows the Qijiang River as it winds through a valley between wooded hills, with streets stepping along the banks and climbing the slopes.
Flat land is scarce here, so the street pattern follows the terrain rather than a planned grid. Dense blocks crowd the riverbanks, bridges tie the two sides together, and newer districts spread onto terraces and gentler slopes further out. At the edges, the map dissolves into farmland, forest and scattered villages typical of the southern Chongqing hills.
A Gunan map poster captures a city defined by its river. A looping band of water runs through the centre, streets pack tightly along it, and roads wind away into the hills. In black and white the curves read clearly, giving the composition a natural movement that flat, gridded cities rarely have.

Riverside bridges
Several crossings link the two banks. They are drawn as short, straight strokes across the water that knit the divided urban area into a single city.
Hillside streets
Away from the river, roads bend to follow contours and climb onto higher ground, creating irregular, curving blocks typical of cities in the Chongqing hills.
