Hòa Thành lies in the flat farmland of Tây Ninh in southern Vietnam, close to Tây Ninh city and not far from the Cambodian border. The street pattern is simple: main roads run through the town, smaller lanes fill the spaces between them, and fields and waterways press in at the edges. With no hills or coastline, roads define almost the whole shape of the town.
The town is best known as the home of the Holy See of Cao Đài, a religion founded in Vietnam in the 1920s. The temple complex fills a large enclosed area with its own internal avenues.
