Mapa
Ilembula Map Poster & Print
Ilembula lies in Njombe Region, in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania, an area of high plateaus, rolling hills and farmland. On a map the town appears as a loose cluster of streets and plots, with roads and footpaths running out toward surrounding villages and fields. The pattern is informal and spread out rather than tightly gridded.
The town is known in the region for Ilembula Lutheran Hospital, which serves a wide rural area and draws patients from well beyond the town itself. Around it, homes, schools, churches and small businesses form the working centre of a community that depends heavily on farming in the cooler highland climate.
An Ilembula map poster shows the place as it really is from above: modest roads, scattered buildings and the wide open country that surrounds them. It is a simple composition, but for people who have lived or worked here, including doctors, nurses and families, the familiar lines of the roads carry a lot of meaning.
