Latina Map Poster & Print
Latina lies on the flat Pontine plain south of Rome, and its centre is one of the clearest examples of a planned town in Italy. Streets radiate from a central square in straight lines, crossed by ring roads that form concentric outlines. Outside the core, a network of straight drainage canals and farm roads extends across the plain to the coast.
The city was founded in 1932 as Littoria, part of the reclamation of the Pontine Marshes, which turned malarial wetland into farmland with new towns and a system of canals. It was renamed Latina after the Second World War. Its coast includes Lido di Latina and a chain of lagoons near the Circeo National Park.
A Latina map poster makes the plan itself the subject. The radial centre appears as a precise geometric figure, surrounded by the looser growth of later decades and the straight lines of the reclaimed countryside. Few Italian cities show their design intentions so clearly from above, which gives the print an unusually architectural quality.

Reclamation canals
Long straight drainage channels cross the plain between Latina and the sea, the framework of the land reclamation that made the city possible.
Coastal lagoons
Along the shore, a narrow dune strip separates the sea from coastal lakes, a series of smooth elongated shapes at the edge of the territory.

Zašto Latina
Mapa koja nešto znači
Latina interests architects, planners and readers of history as well as those who grew up there. Its plan is a document of a specific moment in twentieth-century Italy, and as a print it offers strong geometry without any added ornament.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose from five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the planned layout particularly well. The HD files are $9, and printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
