The town grid
Straight streets and rectangular blocks make up the town centre. The regular layout reads clearly and gives the poster a calm, orderly core.

Linkou Map Poster
Linkou is the seat of Linkou County in Heilongjiang, in the Mudanjiang area of China's far northeast. On a map the town appears as a compact grid of streets in a broad valley, with farmland in the lowlands and forested hills rising around it.
A railway passes through the town, and the main roads lead out toward Mudanjiang and other centres in the region. The railway and its yards are among the strongest features of the plan: a long, straight band along which the rectangular street blocks are arranged.
Winters here are long and cold, and the landscape moves between green summer fields and heavy snow. A Linkou map poster keeps the view simple: a regular town grid, the tracks, the streams in the valley and the patchwork of fields that surrounds everything.

The railway line
The tracks and yards form a long, straight band through the town. They are one of the defining lines of the map and tie Linkou to the rest of the northeast.
Valley farmland
Fields spread across the lower ground around the town, bordered by wooded slopes. The change from cultivated land to forest gives the edges of the poster a soft texture.
