Microdistrict layout
Apartment blocks are arranged in clear groups around courtyards and service buildings. On the map this makes a regular, rhythmic pattern typical of Soviet town planning.

Mapa
Luchegorsk Map Poster & Print
Luchegorsk was founded in the 1960s in the north of Russia's Primorsky Krai to house workers of the Primorskaya power station, the largest in the region. Its purpose is clear on the map: a tight arrangement of residential blocks, a large industrial site and a broad reservoir created to cool the plant. All of it sits in forested, rolling country far from any large city.
The town is laid out in microdistricts, the Soviet planning unit of apartment blocks grouped around shared yards, schools and shops. The reservoir lies to one side, its outline softening the edge of the map. Beyond the plant, the open-pit coal mine that fuels the station cuts a stepped, geometric shape into the land.
A Luchegorsk map poster suits people who grew up in towns like this, built all at once and for a clear reason. The contrast between the orderly housing, the heavy industrial forms and the wide sheet of water makes a surprisingly graphic image. The dark Noir style brings out that character especially well.

Cooling reservoir
A large reservoir beside the town was created for the power station. Its broad, smooth outline is the largest open shape on the map.
Open-pit mine
The coal mine that supplies the station shows as a terraced cut in the landscape. Its stepped edges look very different from the surrounding forest and fields.
