Malanday lies in San Mateo, Rizal, on the eastern edge of the Manila metropolitan area. Its streets fill the floor of the Marikina River valley, and the map shows how densely the land is used: short lanes, narrow alleys and compact subdivisions pressed together, with only a few wider roads carrying traffic through toward the city and the towns further north.
