Mapa
Meriden Map Poster & Print
Meriden sits roughly halfway between Hartford and New Haven, and its map shows a New England industrial city shaped by its terrain. The downtown grid follows the valley of Harbor Brook. Older residential streets climb gently toward the edges of town. To the northwest, the dramatic ridges of the Hanging Hills rise out of the landscape, their slopes thick with forest and ringed by reservoirs.
In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries Meriden was known as the Silver City, a centre for silverware and silver-plate manufacturing, and the old factory sites still punctuate the street plan. Today Interstate 91, Interstate 691 and the Wilbur Cross Parkway trace long curves across the map. Downtown, the Meriden Green park replaced a former mall site and also helps control flooding along Harbor Brook.
A Meriden map poster brings together these layers: the compact nineteenth-century core, the neighbourhoods spreading along the valley, and the wild high ground of Hubbard Park. On a clear day, Castle Craig, a stone tower on East Peak, looks out over the whole city. Printed in black and white, the contrast between the dense streets and the empty hills is especially strong.

Castle Craig
A small stone observation tower stands on East Peak in Hubbard Park. It has been a local landmark for over a century and gives wide views across Meriden and beyond.
Interstate curves
I-91, I-691 and the Wilbur Cross Parkway sweep through and around the city in long arcs. They give the finer street grid a bold, modern frame.
