Arterial road grid
Broad roads divide the area into large rectangles, a typical pattern of contemporary Chinese urban planning that gives the poster strong, clean divisions.

Mapa
Nanding Map Poster & Print
Nanding lies in Shandong Province, within the wider urban area of Zibo, an industrial city that spreads across the plain north of the central Shandong hills. From above, the town is part of a continuous patchwork of streets, residential compounds, factories and farmland. Main roads and rail lines run through it in long, straight strokes.
Recent Chinese town planning is easy to read on a map like this one. Wide arterial roads frame large blocks, each filled with apartment compounds, schools or industrial sites, while older villages show up as denser clusters of small lanes. A Nanding map poster captures the contrast between these large blocks and the fine grain of the old villages.
The wider Zibo area reaches deep into Chinese history: the ancient state of Qi had its capital at Linzi, now a district of the city, and the region is known for ceramics and glassmaking. In monochrome, the map of Nanding leaves industry aside and focuses on structure, with grid, road and field arranged across the Shandong plain.

Village clusters
Former villages remain as small, dense knots of lanes between modern blocks, adding intricate detail to the otherwise regular layout of the map.
Rail and industry
Railway lines and large industrial sites appear as long straight bands and broad shapes, reflecting Zibo's role as one of Shandong's manufacturing centres.
