Hickory Creek corridor
The creek follows an irregular green course through the village. Its floodplain keeps building off its banks and cuts a natural line across the neat suburban street pattern.

Mapa
New Lenox Map Poster & Print
New Lenox sits on the flat prairie of Will County, southwest of Chicago. From above, most of it is made of residential subdivisions: loops, crescents and cul-de-sacs laid out in separate pockets, each tied to a few collector roads. The square mile grid of the Midwest can still be seen in the main arterials that frame these pockets, even where the streets inside have been drawn to curve.
Hickory Creek winds through the village in a green band of floodplain and parkland, one of the few lines on the map not set by a surveyor. U.S. Route 30, the old Lincoln Highway, crosses town from east to west. A Metra commuter line on the Rock Island District links New Lenox to downtown Chicago, and Interstate 80 runs just to the north.
A New Lenox map poster shows a type of place that is easy to overlook: a modern American suburb whose shape comes from neighbourhoods built one development at a time. In monochrome, the contrast between straight arterials and softly curving local streets becomes the main design of the print.

Lincoln Highway
U.S. Route 30 follows the route of the early transcontinental Lincoln Highway. It runs through New Lenox as a steady east–west line that the rest of the map is arranged around.
Loops and cul-de-sacs
Residential streets fold into loops and dead ends inside the larger grid of arterials. Each neighbourhood forms its own small, recognisable pattern.
