Ōi Map Poster
Ōi is a former town in southern Saitama that merged with neighbouring Kamifukuoka in 2005 to form the city of Fujimino. It lies on the flat Musashino plateau, roughly thirty kilometres north-west of central Tokyo. On a map, the land is level and densely settled, with no major hills or coastline. The streets make a fine, irregular mesh that shows how farmland was gradually built over.
The shape of the area comes from its roads and railways. Long routes cut across the plateau toward Kawagoe and Tokyo, and smaller lanes branch off at odd angles, often following old field boundaries rather than a planned grid. Pockets of greenery, woodland and farm plots remain between the houses and show up as quieter patches in the drawing.
This is commuter country: homes, schools and small shopping streets, with residents travelling toward the capital each day. An Ōi map poster captures that everyday texture.
