Mapa
Old Swan Map Poster & Print
Old Swan is a district in the east of Liverpool, a few miles from the city centre, where several main roads meet. On a map that junction is the obvious focus: routes arrive from different directions and converge in a knot of shops and crossings, while rows of Victorian and Edwardian terraces fill the spaces in between with a close, regular rhythm.
The district takes its name from an old inn that stood at the crossroads, a reminder that this was once a stopping point on the road out of Liverpool toward Prescot. As the city grew in the nineteenth century, the fields around the junction filled with housing, churches and schools, and Old Swan became part of the continuous urban fabric of east Liverpool.
An Old Swan map poster shows a classic piece of northern English townscape. The dense terraces form tight parallel bands, the main roads cut across them at confident angles, and nearby green spaces open up quiet pauses in the pattern. It is a neighbourhood map in the truest sense, readable street by street.

Terraced streets
Long rows of terraced houses run side by side across the district. Their narrow, repeated plots create the fine, striped texture typical of Liverpool's inner suburbs.
Road to Prescot
The historic route east toward Prescot passes through Old Swan. It forms one of the map's strongest lines and recalls the district's origins as a roadside stop.
