Mapa
Orland Park Map Poster & Print
From above, Orland Park follows the classic Midwestern pattern. Long section-line roads divide the land into large squares, and inside each square the residential streets curl into loops and cul-de-sacs. Retention ponds and small lakes appear across the map as rounded shapes, and wide belts of forest preserve break up the suburban texture with open space.
Orland Park is a village in Cook County in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. It grew quickly in the second half of the twentieth century and is now a major retail and residential centre for the region. LaGrange Road serves as its main commercial corridor, and Metra commuter trains connect the village to downtown Chicago.
An Orland Park map poster makes the most of the contrast between the straight arterial roads and the soft curves inside them. Each square reads like its own small pattern, and together they build a surprisingly graphic print. It is a good example of how a suburb, seen at the right scale, can look as deliberate as any old town.

Curving subdivisions
Inside the grid, residential streets form loops, crescents and dead ends. At poster scale they look like fine patterns set inside each square.
Ponds and preserves
Scattered ponds and larger stretches of forest preserve land show up as open shapes. They give the print breathing room and break up the dense street pattern.
