Pérez is in the province of Santa Fe, just west of the city of Rosario, and is part of its wider metropolitan area. The land is almost perfectly flat, part of the fertile humid pampa. The town follows the classic Argentine pattern: a chequerboard of square blocks, a main plaza near the centre, and straight streets that run out until they meet the fields.
Railways did much to shape the growth of towns in this part of Santa Fe, and rail corridors cross the area around Pérez with small yards and station buildings beside them.
