Valley-floor town
The built area stretches along the lowest ground, so the street pattern is long and narrow rather than round, a shape set by the slopes on either side.

Rio Claro Map Poster & Print
Rio Claro sits in the hilly interior of Rio de Janeiro state, far from the coast and the metropolitan sprawl most people link with the region. On a map the town appears as a narrow settlement along the bottom of a valley. Its streets are pressed between slopes, and its roads leave along the few natural corridors the terrain allows.
The name means clear river, and the low ground along streams and rivers is what organises the place. Streets tend to run parallel to the valley floor, crossed by short lanes that climb until the gradient stops them. Beyond the built edge, rural roads wind through farmland and patches of Atlantic forest. There the drawing grows sparse, leaving broad pale areas where the hills take over.
A Rio Claro map poster keeps that relationship between settlement and landscape intact. The dense knot of the centre, the thin lines heading out to neighbouring districts and the empty spaces of the ridges all translate well into black and white. The result is quiet and linear, and it is clearly shaped by geography rather than by planning.

Water in the landscape
As the name suggests, streams and rivers run through the valleys here, and the map follows their low ground, with roads and streets arranged along it.
Open hill country
Outside the centre the map thins into winding rural roads and wide unbuilt areas, the kind of negative space that gives a minimalist poster room to breathe.

Zašto Rio Claro
Mapa koja nešto znači
Small inland towns rarely appear on printed maps of Brazil, and that is part of the appeal. For people who grew up here, have family in the valley or remember it from a trip into the interior, the poster records a place that matters to them personally even though it is not famous.
You can set your own title, add a date that matters and adjust the coordinates line, then choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files cost $9 and include six print sizes. You can also order a printed poster on matte paper.
