Mapa
Rocky River Map Poster & Print
Rocky River sits on the south shore of Lake Erie just west of Cleveland, and its edges are unusually clear on a map. The lake closes it off to the north. To the east, the river that gives the town its name runs through a steep, wooded valley. The town lies between them as a tidy suburban grid of tree-lined residential streets.
The river valley is protected as part of the Cleveland Metroparks. Seen from above, it forms a long, winding band of green with only a few roads crossing it. The bridges that span the gorge are among the town's most recognisable structures. Near the river mouth, the valley opens out into marinas and a small harbour on the lake.
A Rocky River map poster works because of these strong natural borders: the curve of the lakeshore, the meandering valley and the ordered streets between them. Main roads such as Detroit Road and Lake Road run east–west and tie the town to Cleveland. It is a compact composition with water and green space framing a calm grid.
